BOM sayeth: 8mm in Tuggtown, just 1mm at the airport.

Definitely more than 8mm at my place in Tuggtown, we got hammered. I am about 10km north of where I believe the BOM guage is. Based on the water in my dog’s food bowl, my little one’s wagon and the birdbath I would say 30mm.

Real scientific instruments you got there TP…

What my instruments lack in scientific validity they make up for in consistency. Everything in my yard that could hold water held approximately 30mm more after the storm 🙂

‘Watson, his three-legged dog is surely not a member of one of the thirstier breeds. I doubt that it is a Newfoundland, or we would think that no rain had fallen at all.’

‘Shut up Holmes. You are unbearable at the best of times.’

Some images of the alleged “storm” approaching North Canberra

I really like the light in those photographs.

the big rain guage (aka the pool) went up by 20-30mm in Tugg – I reakon that is a pretty good indicator of the volume we had that night (better than a pet bowl anyway)

We got 24 mils in SW Kambah (scientifically measured).

Seems like you folk in the ACT got the rain, and we in nearby NSW got the lightning, and the fires. Late night last night at one of them.

Lucky you! Nothing at Narrabundah. Nothing!

Buckets coming down in Duffy right now.

Yeah, but is there any rain with those falling buckets??

Yeah son, the buckets were hitting the ground, bouncing back up, flipping and then pouring down glorious veggie loving rain!

Yup, nothing up north again, south side and Quangers gets it all. Odd, considering the wind is blowing from the coast but the storms are coming from the northwest. I guess it’s one of those under currents that leaves you guessing where it is going to go.

FYI, not a drop in Quangers.

Innar Norf Innardated.

(Well some rain.)

BOM were a bit slow off the mark today. There were still no warnings issued when the area from Michelago south to Cooma was copping a (much needed) hammering on the radar. Even when I could hear the thunder from here in Tuggeranong and was watching the rain coming over from the Brindies, there had still been no warning issued.

Not just slow, they were going backwards at one stage. Up until around 4 they had a 20% chance of rain for rest of today. As it was actually raining and they expanded the thunderstorm coverage, they reduced it to 10%. Obviously some not all their systems are talking to each other.

Dry as a bone here

Nothing at Narrabundah.

Being serious for a moment (a temporary state that occurs between the second and third drink) I do hope that we are not leaving our children with a climate where they experience heat like this more and more frequently.

Nice prospects for punkawallahs though.

Plenty of rain down south but nothing up north?

🙂 Thank you Flying Spaghetti Monster!

The temperature’s dropped by about 10 degrees in the last hour.

Innar Norf gets Nuffink.

Nothin up North 🙁

But are they likely to produce any rain????
Or just bring down branches and start bushfires?
Be careful what you wish for JB.
