Last night at The Front in Lyneham there were no knitters to be seen, gruntled or otherwise.
There was, however, a throbbing crowd and diverse crowd of all ages. And four musicians sitting on a couch passing a guitar around.
They took it in turns to play their songs, often interrupting themselves mid-song to explain pieces of the writing and sometimes taking questions from the audience afterwards.
The video gives a taste of the magic (and the crash of the bottles), as well as a sample of the sort of songs one can expect.
The mind boggles at the thought of what Sanji Dasilva will be like next week in a format which positively encourages him to talk. We might get a song in there somewhere.
The music starts around 7.30 but I’d advise getting there early to get a seat. It costs a recommended $5 donation at the door.
It’s a great way to spend a Tuesday evening.

The Band Broke Up – how cool is this?

Heh so you didn’t have any ‘encounters’ that you felt all of Canberra needed to know about johnboy?
The manager rocks. I am not sure many of the authors of those 100 or so comments even realised he actually exercised his ‘right to reply’ on here. The Front rules.. It’s a shame there aren’t more places like it supporting art/music in Canberra. Looking forward to getting to more Tuesday nights of The Band Broke Up series!
Knitters – look at the prominent ad you appear to have achieved for the Front! Mind you, I doubt whether the manager will think to thank you …
throbbing crowd ? Amusing.
Beats knitting anyday
