The Olivia Lambert Appeal – A local lass needs your help!
Catriona Rowntree will join other celebs at Thoroughbred Park on 4 October 2008 to help our little local lass, Olivia Lambert. Olivia’s story was recently seen on 60 Minutes, presented by Peter Overton.
Olivia is a gorgeous 4yr old with Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that primarily affects children under 5yrs. In the past 20 years there has been no progress in the treatment for neuroblastoma due to the lack of research and as a result Olivia has a less than 1% chance of survival.
The family of Olivia Lambert and Thoroughbred Park have organised a race day to raise much needed funds to for neuroblastoma research. Sponsors and supporters alike will attend an official function with all proceeds to go towards finding a cure. An exciting announcement is that Catriona Rowntree of Getaway fame will host the event and judge the Best Hat competition. The winner will receive a beauty pack and prize to the value of $500.
The event will be held at Thoroughbred Park in Canberra ACT on Saturday 4 October. The event will commence at 12pm. Those wishing to be a part of the official function which includes a two course meal and beverages can book by calling 02 6241 3888.
To promote the day free showbags to the first 1000 ladies through the front gate will entice racegoers to dig deep for Olivia.
Olivia has received great support and interest from local and national media and this raceday will be no exception. She appeared on 60 minutes on Sunday 20 June. http://www.sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=598911
This has been followed by weeks of radio coverage and a story on WIN News last week.
Olivia’s mother Kirsty is a cancer battler herself having been diagnosed when 18 weeks pregnant with Olivia and relapsing last year. This family are suffering and need the support of the community to inspire hope and establish a legacy for their beautiful daughter. Please have a look at www.olivialambert.com.au.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 4 October. Please spread the word and let everyone know to come to the race day and help this little girl achieve her dreams of starting a legacy so others who share her condition can benefit.
