Dog of the Week: Zera
This girl is a stunner! Just look at her! We have a huge number of Facebook followers who love seeing our work, but our best-performing post of the last six months has been a photo shoot we shared of Zera, the supermodel!
It’s not just her good looks that captured people’s attention, though; it was the way she was laying all over one of our volunteers. Or sitting there next to him with a smile and eyes full of joy because of the attention.
This is our girl Zera, seven years young with a wonderful temperament who loves attention. She’s still eager and capable of learning new tricks and commands and she would make a sensational addition to a family with active teenagers.
Zera is wonderful in our shelter environment when, honestly, many dogs are not. Once in a new, calm and stable home, this supermodel would be fantastic – a ‘must-see’ neighbourhood dog!

Kittens of the week: Lots
After receiving enormous numbers of kittens combined with a significant prevalence of ringworm among incoming kitten populations, RSPCA ACT is trying something new.
We’re making our ringworm-affected kittens available for adoption, waiving the adoption fee (thanks to Canberra Casino for helping us with costs) and supplying new owners with medicines and instructions on what to do.
You’ll need an appointment to choose your temporarily ill kitten. We need to kit you up in PPE for quarantine measures. Don’t worry—ringworm is not deadly, and by following our instructions (baths twice per week for the kitten, you’re free to bathe more often), you and your new, desexed kitty will be fine.
Two of the kittens are pictured: Megatron and Skyscraper. However, we’re fairly certain you’ll come up with a slightly different name for yours. Call our shelter for more details and to make an appointment to choose your new kitten!
Pawnotes: Last week’s gorgeous Pet of the Week, cattle dog Xena, was adopted! Our adult dogs get so much socialisation these days that they really do make wonderful family members!
Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
