Tribunals too slow to be bothered with for security industry?

The Canberra Times brings word that despite many infringements it’s quicker for the Office of Regulatory Services to just not renew security licences annually than to go to the trouble of getting the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal to revoke them:

A spokeswoman said the ORS often declined to renew licences for wayward workers when they came up for review every 12 months.

”By the time it takes to get through [tribunals], they have to be renewed anyway,” she said.

Modern justice, Canberra style!

Gee, I got out of security because I didn’t want to take a two week course to get a licence to do a casual job I’d done for years, maybe I should just draw up a licence and get back into it.
Although the article does mention the crap pay, maybe I’ll just stick to being a big bartender. Still crap pay, but decidely less injuries.

“The spokeswoman said statistics on complaints lodged were not kept”

Bull sh*t they aren’t
