Unearthed Review rides forth once more.
Today we’re having a listen to the annoyingly talented, good looking, and blessed with lovely girlfriends group known as Haunted Attics.
Haunted Attics have nought to say for themselves on the unearthed site but on their own page they tersely note:
Haunted Attics are a band from Canberra in Australia.
Sounds like: Stately Brit-pop, gothic alt-country and all-out rollicking rockers
For the purposes of disclosure let me note I know these guys pretty well, to the point I’ve been to one of their 21st birthday parties.
But let’s not allow that to exclude them from the spotlight.
Lead singer Jake is a hell of a songwriter who’s not afraid to let his audience in to his inner torments, and it shows in songs that are dancy, punchy, and yet allude to deeper and darker themes.
Pop rock in style, well recorded, and definitely three free downloads you should avail yourself of.
Four and a half stars.
Oh, and I should note that back in 2007 I used their music (back when they went by the name of The Lavans) as the setting to pictures of the ice storm which garnered an astonishing 75,843 youtube views (at this time of writing), more than some U2 songs.
