Unearthed Review: Los Capitanes. Three and a half stars

Los Capitanes

Unearthed Review is chilling down with Los Capitanes.

Moving on through the “drummed” artists we come to Los Capitanes.

They have this to say about themselves:

So we’ve been kicking about the nations capital for almost 7 years now, drinking, smoking and sleeping our way to the bottom of canberra’s rich social periphery. During this time we’ve somehow been lucky enough to share the stage with some pretty diverse bands including: Parkway Drive, Koolism, Gyroscope, Fireballs, Carpathian, The Whitlams, Against me! Regurgitator and even British ska legends The Specials. We take great pride in our unpredictable live performances and always ensure that our gigs are forever scarred into the memories of those too horrified and/or drunk to take their own lives.

The three lil’ tracks we’ve got up here now have been taken from our latest album called ‘Rest For the Wicked’ which, after over a year in production, should be in stores by late November. Get amongst it!

Former ska enfant terribles of the Canberra scene Los Capitanes appear to be mellowing with age.

These tracks remind me of Faith No More cracking their biggest hit with “Easy”.

But they’ve got big horns, grinding guitars, and solid ska vocals.

These three tracks aren’t reaching out to get my attention, but if you’re looking for some nice songs about relationships then you could do worse.

Three and a half stars.

I saw their new album “Rest for the Wicked” on the shelf a week ago and took a punt. Two thumbs up (despite a couple of silly songs!)
