Zero degrees

Today Unearthed Review pokes a stick at the electronic rock of Zero Degrees.

There are over 700 Canberra bands with tracks on the TripleJUnearthed website. In 2011 we’re going to explore them. (Previous reviews are available)

Today’s random selection is Zero Degrees who describe themselves thusly:

Four dudes on a quest to make music and have fun. We don’t want to change the world but we’d like to make it a bit more enjoyable for those around us.

We’ve played shows both good and bad, lost and found love, partaken the odd beer here and there, but more importantly, have stuck together through the good and bad.

Think Tool, think Cog, think something a smidge dancier than those two, and that’s Zero Degrees.

Very solid production for an angsty mob with the keys going dweedly dee in the background.

So Beautiful was the standout for me. But if you like Cog give these guys a listen.

Four stars.

Not too shabby…do these guys play around Canberra much?

And yeh, I think the band’s own description of “Rock, Electronic” is more accurate than comparing them to Tool or Cog

Sorry but I don’t even get the slightest resemblance to Cog or Tool from this band. ‘So Beautiful’ sounds like Panic at the Disco, Amy Meridith, or even (unfortunately) Short Stack – way more pop than prog rock!

Catchy songs and great production though. A decent polished sound regardless of how it is categorised.
