Another week and another café to put under the microscope!
This week I headed to EQ Café Lounge in Deakin. Now while Deakin is mostly full of medical and private businesses there are a number of surrounding suburbs that could benefit from a weekend breakfast spot.
Firstly, EQ is open Mon-Sat so sorry for those who prefer a Sunday morning breakfast, you may need to switch to Saturday!
I visited EQ on a very busy Friday morning, it was packed with local professionals getting their morning coffee, but there was also a considerable amount of people dining in from tradies to seniors and a rather large mother’s group.
We took a seat outside (ample seating inside and outside but the sun was out so a good time to make the most of it!) and were served within minutes of sitting down.
While perusing the menu there wasn’t really anything outstandingly different. They were all good breakfast menu items with nothing out of the ordinary. While that’s good, I also like when I see something on the menu that is different and out of the ordinary.
I decided to go for the omelet on toast while my dining partner ordered the eggs benedict with bacon.
After seeing the extremely long line for coffee I was fairly skeptical that our coffees would arrive before I meals, but sure enough they did! Within 10 minutes of ordering they turned up with our meals only 5 minutes behind.
The omelet was hot and filled with deliciousness and the eggs benedict looked pretty damn good too. This was easily a good, solid breakfast.
If you’re keen to try it out yourself you’ll find them at 70 Kent Street, Deakin.
