Whineing & Dying

Canberra Youth Theatre’s very own BYO Players invite you to C Block Theatre, Gorman House for a guttural degustation of macabre short plays from the 13th to the 23rd of July, Wednesday to Saturday.

This season of works recklessly speeds from hilarious to tragic on the bicycle of bizarre. Be sure to wear your helmet, dear listener, because at any second you could crash into a hellish pit of bastards and butterflies, where sleep is for the sane, barley for the enlightened and terror lurks backstage like a persistent Jehovah’s Witness.

The BYO Players spawned from a workshop for Canberra Youth Theatre’s older members seventeen and up who have been working through Semester 1, pouring over play scripts and sweating through intensive workshops with their nefarious directors Linda McHugh and Estelle Muspratt. Together they have created a grotesque season of the absurd, with scripts pulled from all corners of the underground, from young Canberran playwrights to old man Brecht himself.

C Block Theatre has been transformed into a misshapen cabaret of the damned, complete with tables, chairs, red velvet curtains and nibblies (of the damned). Bring your coin for the boatman, $12 for adults, $8 for concessions and $5 for CYT members, and prepare for the crossing.
