Anglicare’s Rae Burgess Centre helps dozens of people a year, from the homeless to those facing domestic abuse, or poverty.

Sadly the centre has hit some rough times of its own and only had enough funding to keep operating until August, reports ABC News.

The numbers haven’t been decreasing, the numbers continue to increase each year,” he said.

“Yass is obviously located very close to Canberra.

“Then we’ve got the cross-border issues in regards State and Territory funding, it basically leaves nowhere for these families to go.”

Mr Bennett says the centre needs $100,000 a year to do its job.

“We’re obviously hoping by June 30 we have some sort of indication from either State or Federal Government that they will support the Ray Burgess Centre,” he said.

“However if funding does not come to light very soon, then we will need to start advising the clients and the community that potentially the Ray Burgess Centre may be ceasing.”
