ANU slashes the entry scores

Apparently Chubb explained the reasons at an ANU general meeting a couple of weeks ago, and it comes down to a problem with the rules about federal funding. If they underestimate enrolments they lose money, if they overestimate enrolments they lose money. The end result is that required scores can be expected to change every year. (These scores are still higher than they were in 2003, IIRC.)

I guess that “Prestigious” label must be wearing thin if applications are shrinking to the point that they have to lower the scores to keep the money flowing 🙂

Elsewhere, they are known as degrees… 🙂

Yes, I too am appalled by this turn of events, but I guess it was better than the other option of becoming The McDonalds/Pizza Hut/Caltex/Optus Australia National University.

I guess the sign above the dunny roll in the UC engineering building bathroom that said “ANU arts degrees, please take one” was correct after all.

Oh, sorry. Isn’t that what the Arts student typically asks the Engineering student?
