Fires at Westfield Belconnen?

Reports are coming in of a fire at the Belconnen Mall.

We’ll bring you more as it comes to hand.

UPDATE: This in from the ESA:

ACT Fire Brigade on scene at Westfield Belconnen after a small fire was extinguished near the service elevator on the ground floor near K-Mart.

Small fire was extinguished by staff.

The centre was partially evacuated as a precaution.

Air monitoring crews on scene before reopening the area shortly.

No damage reported.

The cause of the small fire will be investigated.

Further Update:

ACT Fire Brigade on scene at Westfield Belconnen following a small fire in the loading bay area.

Fire was extinguished by staff.

ACT Fire Brigade crews conducting ventilation and air monitoring.

Partial evacuation of the ground floor near Best and Less in place.

Crews notified following an Automatic Fire Alarm at 2:09pm.

Cause of fire will be investigated.

2:50pm

ANOTHER UPDATE: We’re hearing there’s been a second small fire, which has to be a bit of a worry.

Shoppers have been permitted to return to the area.

ACT Policing now investigating.
