ACT Policing is calling for witnesses to a pursuit yesterday (Thursday 15 September) through parts of Canberra.
About 10:25pm police attempted to stop a gold coloured Mazda 323 with one headlight travelling northbound on Drakeford Drive. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit continued through Kambah, Waramanga, Weston, and Curtin. Stop sticks were deployed by police on Adelaide Avenue puncturing the front tyres of the offending vehicle.
The pursuit continued through Yarralumla and Barton before being terminated on Kings Avenue. Following the pursuit, the offending vehicle was sighted in Turner where it was followed by police before stopping in Forbes Street. The female passenger was detained by police however the driver fled the scene and was unable to be located.
Police are continuing to make enquiries into the identity of the driver. Nobody was hurt and no property was damaged as a result of the pursuit. The maximum speed reached was 160km/h and the pursuit lasted around 11 minutes.
