The Canberra Wine House

In the heart of Dickson, in the heart of the Tradies club, lies a secret hideaway housing a collection of the best wines in the region.

The Canberra Wine House is The Tradies’ newest bar, continuing the club’s 50-year tradition of sourcing and supplying the highest quality wines and produce from Canberra and surrounds.

Walking in, the visitor finds a space that is relaxed and intimate, with a parquetry bar, wine barrel tables, booths and vintage leather Chesterfield club chairs.

Glasses and wine bottles line the bar begging to be poured: Nick O’Leary, Clonakilla and Ravensworth to name a few. You can sample up to 15 wines, and chat with the bar’s resident wine expert about how the vintages are made, the wineries they’ve come from and the foods they complement.

The Canberra Wine House Food

On choosing a favourite, you can order a glass, half bottle or bottle with a tapas, cheese or sweets platter showcasing produce from the likes of Poachers Pantry, Leaning Oak and Jasper and Myrtle chocolates. The menu is updated every season, with spring offering mouth-watering smoked beef bresaola, tarragon and lemon smoked chicken and pear and ginger chutney.

There is also an extensive alcohol-free beverages list if you just want to sample the exquisite food.

The Canberra Wine House Beverages

A mini market provides up to 40 wines that can be purchased and taken home, along with an incredible array of local products including books, handcrafted accessories and locally-sourced chocolates, chutneys, jams, nuts, olives, sauces and more.

With the weather warming up, the bar’s outdoor seating area will re-open again soon. You can also enjoy the Spring Soiree Special every Saturday, which includes a cheese plater and two glasses of wine for just $32.

If you visit on a Saturday, you’ll also be treated to live music from a variety of talented local musicians.

The Canberra Wine House Entertainment

Bookings aren’t essential, so it’s the perfect hideaway to steal away an hour on your own, meet with a friend or colleague, or book for a special event or function.

The Canberra Wine House is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-9pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 3-10pm. It is located inside The Tradies Club at 2 Badham Street, Dickson.

For more information, or to reserve a table online, go to The Tradies Club website.
