A $1.4 million Lotto win still hasn’t been claimed by a lucky Canberra man or woman more than three weeks after the draw.

On 6 January, the winning ticket was purchased at the Curtin Newsagency & Post Office. The ticket was unregistered, meaning lottery officials are unable to contact the entrant directly.

Curtin News Agency and Post Office owner Thuy Nguyen says she was thrilled for the buyer, who is now entitled to a total prize of $1,441 433.

“We’re a family-run business and we’re absolutely thrilled to hear our store had sold a Division One winning entry in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw,” Thuy said.

“We wish our mystery winner a big congratulations on this life-changing victory! We sincerely hope this brings great joy and prosperity to your life.”

This is the seventh time Nguyen’s store has sold a Division One winner, a fact she describes as “an immense source of pride,”

“It reaffirms our commitment to providing our customers with a chance at life-altering moments.”

Lottery spokeswoman Anna Hobdell says the Lott is eager to identify the winner so they can be given their prize.

“It’s most likely our latest ACT winner has woken up today, gone about their usual morning routine and headed off to work with no idea they’ve won $1.4 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw,”

Hobdell also urges all Curtin Newsagency customers to check their tickets as soon as possible and has renewed calls for players to ensure they are registered.

“Winning tickets can often be found in wallets, handbags, fridge doors or car glove boxes. Be sure to check anywhere or everywhere because the winner could be you.

“This is a great reminder to all players to register their tickets to a players card or online account because if you score Division One, your prize is secure, and we can call you immediately to let you know about the winning news!”

Should they discover their forgotten ticket, The Lott asks the winner to contact them directly at 131 868.

In 2023, there were 21 unclaimed Division One lottery prizes in Australia, totalling $16.14 million.

The biggest unclaimed win from the ACT was for $4.8 million, purchased at Woden’s Thistle Kiosk in 2021.

Another prize of $537,000 also remains unclaimed. That winning ticket was purchased in Kaleen the following year.

In the ACT, lottery winners are given six years to claim their prize before it expires.
