Thanks for the intell on the Penjing, Leigh. Given the plethora of plaques, perhaps another explanatory one might be in order for this.

Are the local Aboriginal community the gate keepers on ALL the national collections of things?

Just a bit of background on the Penjing that includes the Aboriginal figures.
Mr Khan Linh, a Vietnamese born Australian from Sydney created the work on Kevin Rudd’s “National Sorry Day” as his tribute to Australia’s indigenous people.

The artwork has been viewed and received by Canberra’s Aboriginal Community, including elders, favourably. The only way it could have been done better, it was suggested, was to use an Australian native plant in the composition.

I can see a mobile office review being posted from that Eagle’s Nest. ‘It must be fashionable, as the seats were so uncomfortable that Barcham’s carefully retro suit was ripped to pieces…We grabbed passing pigeons and ate them raw. All in all, it was delightful.’

Went out there the other day, I’m usually pretty open minded but I’m struggling to see how anybody could find the place entertaining.

I’ve taken my crotch fruit to the Arboretum.

Parts are still under construction (I swore they’ve been working up there since 2008, whats taken so long?) but the views are pretty good. I’m sure in a few years when the trees start getting to decent heights it’ll be a fantastic area. Although now its more like a dustbowl with some tracks and seedlings spread around.

When I went up the top of the hill to see the view and the metal nest, the nest was being climbed in by some kids. It didn’t look like it was kid friendly nor designed for such exploration, I got asked by mine if they could climb inside it. I said ‘no’, it annoys me to no end seeing people not being able to control their hellspawn.
