On saturday i went to ‘poachers pantry’ a restaraunt in the middle of nowhere which apparently warrants my journey there by being exceptional.
First off – the food was pretty good.
However, lunch was booked for 12.30.
Orders at 12.45.
Entree – mixed platter, arrived at 1.30. bread arrived at 2.00. We asked 3 or 4 times when it was coming.
After asking for a bottle of wine to be opened (twice) Bonfire whipped out his swiss army and opened it.
The main arrived at 3.00. yes, 3.00.
After waiting for a waitron in vain, and gesturing to the blind, i walked up to the wine counter and ordered some drinks.
In short – the service was shocking. Shocking. While the food when it arrived was very good, i didnt feel that the wait was worth it.
No, it wasnt a busy day the place was perhaps half full. And even worse, its ‘child friendly’.
Avoid.
