Here is an opportunity ladies and gentlemen to make all of your dreams come true. I know that it has long been a desire for all of you to see a little piece of Canberra named after the RiotACT, and now a chance to make that happen has arrived.
The Land Development Agency, along with the ACT Place Names Committee are looking for nominations of deserving Canberrans whose names shall be immortalised at the new park.
They may be talking about flesh and blood people when they say Canberrans, but we believe RiotACT is as Canberran as they come and totally deserves a park named after it.
So head over to the website and nominate us Rioters!*
A public competition is now open calling on the community to come up with naming suggestions and create their own piece of history.
This is the first time in Canberra’s place-naming history that the community has had the opportunity to put forward their suggestions for a specific location.
The park, located on Eastlake Parade between the Waterfront and Aurora developments at Kingston Foreshore, is the central link between the historical area featuring the Former Transport Depot and Fitters’ Workshop and the newly constructed Harbour and Promenade.
Park features include seating boats, giant flower pots, seating stools and planted mounds, and giant carved limestone boulders create a new sense of place and talking point. As the planting grows and the full structure of the park is realised, this park will become a well-known and loved destination within Kingston Foreshore.
*Or you can nominate whoever you want I guess…
