Mayor Rattenbury has let it be known he’s spending $3 million on bus facilities in Belconnen:
Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, today announced the commencement of $3 million of work to improve public transport facilities on Haydon Drive and College Street in Belconnen.
“This work is part of the Belconnen to City transitway project, which will create a corridor of enhanced public transport infrastructure between Belconnen and the City. This is one of Canberra’s key commuter routes,” said Mr Rattenbury.
“The recently completed Barry Drive bus lanes already improve bus travel, and these new works in Belconnen will improve the transitway even more. Buses will be faster and bus stops will be better: it’s another good reason for Canberrans to try commuting on an ACTION bus.
“This stage of the project constructs a dedicated bus lane on College Street, improved pick up and set down facilities outside Radford College, new bus stops on Haydon Drive and College Street, and improved walking and cycling facilities throughout the area.
“Haydon Drive and College Street are two of Belconnen’s busiest roads with a large volume of commuters visiting the University of Canberra, Radford College, the Canberra Institute of Technology, Calvary Hospital and nearby housing.
Gosh, building on the “success” of what the’ve done to Barry Drive eh?
