I was cycling home as well (fortunately on bike paths). Got home and my son said ‘did you get hit by the hail’ and all I could say was ‘I couldnt seen well enough to know what was hitting me’

I think I drove past you, travelling only slightly faster than you were amidst a downpour of rain and hail of biblical proportions. I remember thinking “I’m glad I’m not that poor bastard!!” as I tried to find a safe place to pull over.

There was a couple of minutes there of the heaviest rain I’ve ever driven in, and all I wanted to do was stop without crashing or getting rear ended, but before I could do that it was suddenly all over.

Anyway, I’m glad you got home Ok. 🙂

I know that feeling – I was looking at the raindrops hitting the windshield just appreciating that they were water, not ice. Horse Park Drive was a minefield of puddles on the left hand side of the road, trying to grip the car and wrench it toward the gutter. 20kmph crawl home.

Well I won’t be cycle commuting via the stormware drain route for a few days…
On the bright side, maybe it flushed some of the glass and rubbish away (into the Lake).

More than half an inch recorded as falling in the space of five minutes at the Airport – that is getting rather intense!
