Seconded. The previous system with wider spaces (shown at #4 with moron parked over dividing line) allowed those who can actually park a car to align their car on the far left or far right of the parking space, thereby allowing room for the disabled permit holder to get in or out of their car depending on whether they are seated on the passenger or drivers side of the car. This was very handy when transporting someone who is wheelchair bound. The new spaces (illustrated at #2) do not allow for this.

I thought it was just a way to convert existing car parking bays into a disabled parking area without having to remove existing bay markings?
