Celebrate NAIDOC Week at the NGA’s Defying Empire: 3rd National Indigenous Art Triennial by taking part in one of our exciting public programs. Defying Empire brings the works of 30 contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from across the country into the national spotlight. Over the course of NAIDOC week, a selection of these artists will deliver workshops and speeches in the exhibition space.
On Thursday July 6, enjoy a lunchtime talk by artist Jason Wing as he discusses his thrilling subversion of colonial icons.
On Friday July 7, artist Tony Albert invites kids and families to explore his work in Defying Empire as inspiration for creating your own works of art with playing cards, collage and found objects.
On Saturday July 8, Albert and his artist friends will return for more creative making for NAIDOC Week. Enjoy these fun and fascinating opportunities to learn from talented Aboriginal artists during NAIDOC Week.
