The Canberra Times has a piece on how the new ever more onerous regulation of drinking establishments will make things increasingly hard on smaller bars.
The law of unintended consquences is the one that always gets passed. Experience suggests more violence and anti-social behaviour comes from the mega drinking barns than from small venues with more social cohesion.
But bureaucrats live to expand their empires and more regulation is one way to do that, and the big boys always get a seat at the table.
If you’d like to see more small bars rather than fewer large bars be sure to send an email to Simon Corbell about it.
UPDATE: PM has pointed out that the regulations are still open for consultation.
