A 20-year-old Belconnen woman will be summonsed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court after she was caught drink driving twice in little more than an hour on Saturday night (21 July).
ACT Policing said that about 9 pm the woman’s car was stopped by police in Macquarie, where she returned a positive result to a roadside alcohol screening test. Further investigations revealed the woman’s driver’s licence had previously been suspended.
The woman was taken to the Belconnen Police Station where further testing returned a blood alcohol content of 0.065. The woman was issued with a 90-day Immediate Suspension Notice, and released from custody.
About 10:05 pm in Hennessy Street, Belconnen, police stopped a vehicle being driven without its headlights on. The driver was the woman who had just been released from custody. She was taken back into custody and a further breath screening test returned a blood alcohol content of 0.042.
The woman was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House, where she was charged with several offences.
She was released on conditional bail, and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date on two charges of driving with a suspended licence, driving a vehicle with suspended registration, using an uninsured vehicle, and special driver PCA.
The woman will also face charges of failing an alcohol screening test, driving while an immediate suspension notice is in effect, and driving at night without headlights on.
