Seriously, the ACT Government can’t keep up with pothole repairs in a drought. How did they cope when it used to rain a little? They’d be in serious strife working for a local government anywhere north of Coffs Harbour. Yet all those Councils cope quite ably don’t they?

And on the roadworks, well they’ve had a dream run weather wise really. A few days here and there is no big deal.

They hadn’t finished the offroad bike path past the lights, as for the first section to the side street, just as well given the tree but otherwise its just delayed for the grand opening.

It was there yesterday morning after out night of wild weather. there was a few chaps in hi-vis and hard hats from the road building mob staring blankly at it. Since it was still there this morning, it obviously is not within the remit of the road making contractors to move it and are waiting for TAMS do shift it.

And as for the work being finished but the flash new bus and bike lanes still being closed, the only reason I can think of for this is that they are waiting for the grass to grow on the verges so that His Chiefliness can have a nice green backdrop at the official opening.

Will probably help to stick some drains in, as unlevelled clay doesn’t tend to let water run off so well. Daresay that’s part of the plans, but this is Canberra after all…
