7mate on Prime?

With that mystery solved, shall we move onto when Ten’s new channel ‘Eleven’ will be carried by Southern Cross Ten? http://www.mediaspy.org/report/2010/08/26/ten-announces-launch-of-eleven/

It looks like Prime will get their act together this time and 7mate on Prime will launch at the same time, the station name on channel 63 has already changed to “7mate on Prime” despite it not launching for another month and no official word from Prime, from what I can see anyway.

I am quite a big fan of Warehouse 13 and Primeval, but I got sick of waiting to see them over here and just downloaded them.

Maybe if they want more viewers, think about less reality TV and more shows that we are being increasingly forced to download. Then we are called pirates, even though it is the only way to get the content.

Im just glad that this free gift to the networks has resulted in more Australian programming. At least the valuable and scarce frequencies these new digital channels occupy didnt get sold to new companies who may have used them to just show more foreign television.

Well I like watching the new channels, as I can at least watch a movie instead of SPORT!

New episodes of FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD, PARKS AND RECREATION and LAST COMIC STANDING will lead the primetime comedy schedule. 3O ROCK, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THAT 70’S SHOW, SCRUBS and CRANK YANKERS round out the laughs. New drama will include the sci-fi series CAPRICA and the adventure series WAREHOUSE 13 and STARGATE ATLANTIS. The reality slate will feature US ratings hits JERSEY SHORE and PAWN STARS, along with popular MTV series PUNK’D and GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS, featuring the controversial KISS guitarist and his LA-based family, and MONSTER GARAGE with Jesse G. James. Factual on 7mate will see series such as FIFTH GEAR, THE UNIVERSE, LIFE AFTER PEOPLE, THE BONEYARD, AX MEN, JACKED: AUTO THEFT TASKFORCE, MEGA MOVERS, MEGA STRUCTURES, AIR CRASH INVESTIGATIONS and SHOCKWAVE in primetime. 7mate will also be the home for first-run big movies for the blokes, including THE RINGER, STRANGERS and PRIMEVAL.

You beat me to it – but you’d think the corporate comms types at Seven might have consulted their Prime affiliates before settling on the Mate brand.

Although perhaps PriMate is just as apt given the targeted demographic…

Prime will have to do something as they are required to broadcast a minimum number of hours per year of HD content (7mate being a HD channel). To my recollection the number is hours is just over 1000.

Now, it is possible they could have reached that quota already this year so technically could probably delay running this channel until next year. That said, their only other option would be to go a different way with their HD Channel, but with a cost-cutting new CEO they will go the cheap option, which is to run 7mate.

If they learned anything from the 7TWO debacle, they’ll run this channel, even as a dirty feed (direct feed from 7 Sydney, ads and all) from launch day.

That’s what you say now, colourful. I’ll bet when you’re actually in the voting booth, your hand just won’t do what your brain and heart tells it to do…

Woo hoo! American Dad, Family Guy, Scrubs and Jersey Shore! Sick! Although I don’t see how it is specifically for males. Anyway. I’ll be watching.
