The robots are coming – but are we ready for them?

Predictions on how artificial intelligence (AI) will impact our workforce abound, but leading Australian AI scientist Professor Toby Walsh has warned that we are “sleepwalking” into an AI future.

Canberra businesses will have an opportunity at the Canberra Business Chamber’s Gala Dinner on 1 November to hear directly from Professor Walsh on the opportunities and risks presented by AI and the steps they should be taking today to prepare for tomorrow.

Professor Walsh was named by the Australian newspaper as a “rock star” of Australia’s digital revolution.

He is Scientia Professor of Artificial Intelligence at UNSW, leads the Algorithmic Decision Theory group at Data61, Australia’s Centre of Excellence for ICT Research, and is Guest Professor at TU Berlin. He has been elected a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, and has won the prestigious Humboldt research award as well as the NSW Premier’s Prize for Excellence in Engineering and ICT. He has previously held research positions in England, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Sweden.

Even as AI changes the face of work, life and play in the future, humans will continue to play a central role and business leaders must look after their people and themselves in order to perform at their peak.

Also speaking at the Gala Dinner on the topic of self-care, will be high-performance coach Angie Ford.

With over 20 years’ experience, Angie’s client list includes world number one athletes, CEOs, entrepreneurs of the year, national best-selling real estate agents, actors and performing artists.

Angie is passionate about the process of self-belief and how this naturally leads to action, genuine enjoyment and performance results. She has mastered the art of bringing out in others what it takes to perform under pressure and consistently over time.
