Police have released security camera footage of a ram raid at a tobacconist after two such incidents in southern Canberra on the same night this week.
ACT Policing is now seeking witnesses and information about the early morning incidents and a vehicle arson in Chapman.
Police said a stolen black Mercedes SUV was involved in ram raids at the Bentham St Bar in Yarralumla and the TSG tobacconist in Wright between about 4 am and 5:30 am on Thursday (12 December).
Shortly after these incidents, the car was set on fire in an underpass on Darwinia Terrace, between Chapman and Rivett.
“The underpass fire caused significant structural damage, which will require extensive repair and restoration work,” a police spokesperson said.
“Darwinia Terrace between Angophora Street and Rafferty Street will remain closed for the foreseeable future.”
If you saw anyone at the three locations early on Thursday morning or have dash cam footage of the stolen car, contact ACT Policing by calling 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Quote 7923883.
