It’s been a sizzler of a summer so far and the temps are going to heat up even more with Ray White Canberra putting 39 properties under the hammer on Thursday 24th January.
The Summer Sizzler auction night is expected to attract up to around 300 people, some keenly aware that Canberra is tipped to buck the national trends overall with strong property prices. Commentators say the Canberra property market is performing well compared to some other capital cities that are experiencing slumps in prices, like Sydney and Melbourne.
Two multiple award-winning auctioneers will operate in tandem at the Summer Sizzler auction, to handle the large volume of properties.
Alec Brown, Sales Director and Auctioneer, Ray White Canberra, will wield one hammer and Jason Andrew, CEO Sydney Metro, the other. In 2018, Alec won REIACT Auctioneering Champion and Allhomes People’s Choice Auctioneer, as well as being a Finalist in the Australasian Auctioneering Championships in November.). Jason has won Auctioneer of the Year three times from the Real Estate Institute of Queensland and holds the title Australasian Auctioneering Champion (2010).
‘This is the first time we’ve had two auctioneers and we’re doing so because of the large number of properties for sale. Using a duo is sure to create great energy and entertainment,’ says Ray White Canberra CEO Ben Faulks. ‘Interest is high with the properties. Our open home inspection numbers are well above the monthly average and our average number of registered bidders has been as good this month as it was with any month last year.’
January is generally considered a quiet period’ for property, but Mr Faulks says Ray White Canberra has challenged this with a whopping 77 percent company clearance rate in January 2018.
The properties up for sale vary in size and style, with units, townhouses and single-family dwellings on the market from across Canberra and one in Queanbeyan.
Agent Nicky Symon has six properties up for Auction, including an elevated American Colonial style home with three separate living areas on an approximate 1,040 sqm block in Garran with sweeping views across Woden to the Brindabella Ranges.
Bree Parker’s listings include a home with generous sized bedrooms, a covered entertaining terrace, a sparkling solar heated pool with surrounding mature landscaped gardens in Flynn.
Treston Bamber is selling a one-bedroom unit in the prime Inner North location of Reid, just 120 metres from the Canberra Centre, with a wraparound balcony overlooking Glebe Park and featuring a light-filled open plan. Jake Battenally is selling a home with two large living areas and a short stroll to the lake and walking track in Nicholls.
Open house attendance for the Summer Sizzler auction property is strong, says Mr Faulks, with more than 400 groups of potential buyers through all the property on the first Saturday in January, with the median average three times higher than the average for 2018.
‘We believe there’s pent-up demand in the market that will shine through in the first half of 2019,’ says Mr Faulks.
Mr Faulks said Ray White Canberra always looks for creative ways to maximise the exposure of their clients properties, in line with their value of Customer First.
