A 17-year-old boy is set to face court after he allegedly stole from a home in Forde.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said that at about 7 am yesterday (17 December), the home’s resident woke to find the sliding rear door and side gate to their home open.
The resident discovered their Mazda CX-3, a wallet, a handbag and keys were missing.
“Police attended the residence a short time later and viewed CCTV footage, in which police recognised the 17-year-old boy in the footage,” the spokesperson alleged.
At about 1:30 pm, police were conducting enquiries in Bonner when they located the allegedly stolen Mazda. The vehicle has been seized and sent for forensic examination.
Officers later went to the 17-year-old’s residence and carried out a search warrant, where they allegedly found the stolen property and clothing that was believed to have been worn during the burglary, the spokesperson said.
The boy was subject to a good behaviour order and had bail conditions not to be in possession of car keys.
Police arrested the teenager and charged him with burglary, taking a motor vehicle without consent and unlawfully possessing stolen property.
The boy is scheduled to appear in the ACT Children’s Court on Wednesday (18 December).
