The powers that be are unusually concerned about the forecast for storms over the next couple of months.
Today Simon Corbell is announcing a campaign enouraging you to be safe:
The campaign will feature advice on things Canberra householders can do to prepare their homes including:
— Clear your gutters;
— Secure loose roof tiles;
— Trim overhanging tree branches;
— Store unsecured outdoor furniture;
— Shelter vehicles under cover or away from trees; and
— Get your insurance up-to-date.“While a storm is passing through, try to stay indoors if possible and away from windows, If you’re driving, put on your hazard lights and pull over to the side of the road, avoiding things like streams, trees and power lines. And if you happen to be caught outdoors, try to find some emergency shelter, but make sure it’s not under a tree,” Mr Corbell said.
Aside from a cave what other forms of non-tree outdoors emergency shelter are there?
