Batemans Bay Police have released CCTV footage hoping it will lead to information regarding a break and enter at a school campus at Long Beach.

The unknown offender captured in the footage stole a hot water system valued at $800 from the Redeemer Baptist School, late in the day on Monday, June 3.

Speaking to Region Media, a police spokesperson says the incident wasn’t reported to police until June 17.

The campus is used for school camps and retreats – offering city kids a country experience.

“At Redeemer’s Camp Long Beach near Bateman’s Bay, all Redeemer students from Years 5-12 enjoy an extended week of life together as their curriculum is enriched by group studies, games, singing around the camp fire, canoeing, bush walks and beach activities,” the school’s website says.

Social media has poked fun at the man’s poor attempt to hide his face. Warren Goodall writes, “Like most thieves, not too bright.”

The man’s face appears clearly in the footage and police seem hopeful a tip from the community will advance their inquires.
