Wanniassa man charged with child exploitation offences

A Wanniassa man has been arrested and charged with exploitation offences after police found child exploitation material in his possession.

Following a lengthy investigation, members of ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Wanniassa yesterday. During the search, police seized a laptop and a number of mobile phones.

A 44-year-old Wanniassa man was arrested at the scene and was charged with using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication to a person under 16, attempting to groom a young person, and three counts of possessing child exploitation material.

He will face court this morning.
