ACT policing has delivered a huge slap to the Canberra Times, putting out a media release praising the behaviour of the Summernats crowd and declaring the policing of it to be a great success.
Detective Superintendent Michael Chew, head of ACT Policing’s Traffic Operations, said that the comprehensive strategies put in place by ACT Policing and the event organisers had again allowed visitors to the festival to have a safe and enjoyable time.
“The co-operation between ACT Policing and Summernats management and security staff, meant that potential anti-social behaviour and traffic related issues were able to be dealt with quickly, and ensured that this years Summernats festival continued to be the highly successful event that is has been in the past,â€
There are also some concerns about a rise in folk caught drink driving.
So is Detective Superintendent Michael Chew covering himself? Or perhaps he and Chic Henry are right?
