UPDATE, 1 pm: Canberra’s courthouse has re-opened after a bomb threat saw it evacuated for more than an hour.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said officers, the AFP Bomb Response Team and AFP Canine attended the courthouse.
“The Law Courts were evacuated as a precaution while the buildings were searched,” they said.
“No suspicious items were located, and the Courts were reopened at about 12:30 pm.”
Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000.

12:30 pm: The public has been asked to stay away from Canberra’s courts after a bomb threat.
An alarm went off at around 11 am on Friday morning (31 January), and lawyers, court staff and the public were evacuated to nearby City Hill.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said multiple officers were responding to the incident.
“ACT Policing and the AFP Bomb Response Team are responding to a threat at the ACT Law Courts this morning,” they said.
“The Law Courts have been evacuated as a precaution while police investigate the matter.
“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.”
