Man charged over secretly filming flatmate

A 30-year-old man was arrested yesterday (14 December) by ACT Policing on image abuse charges.

On Saturday, 28 November, a woman reported to police that she had discovered a camera hidden in her wardrobe at her Turner residence.

Police commenced an investigation into the allegation that a man, the woman’s housemate, had placed the hidden camera in her wardrobe to obtain intimate images of her without her knowledge.

This investigation led police to seize the man’s electronic equipment. Police then discovered 95 files containing intimate images of the woman recorded between 31 July 2020 and 21 August 2020.

The man was arrested yesterday and bailed to face the ACT Magistrates Court on 18 January 2021 on two counts of Intimate observations or capturing visual data etc (images).
