Region Media is all about your Canberra and Capital Region community, and as we move into 2021, we’re keen to find out what you think.
We’ve got some changes afoot this year, including plans for a RiotACT app, and we’d like to know more about you, our readers, what you enjoy (or not) about RiotACT and how you use the site.
We’re kicking off the year with an anonymous survey so you can have your say about what you would like, need or want to see on RiotACT.
Your feedback will help us respond effectively to our readers and make sure we get it right. And there’s a sweetener in it – appropriately enough, we’ve got a brand new iPhone for one lucky reader.
It’s been a huge year for us as we brought you the best local news and community stories on RiotACT and our sister site About Regional, whether it was the fires wracking our region, the pandemic’s impact or the ACT election.
It’s also been a time of huge change in the regional media landscape as many longstanding news outlets dramatically reduced their offerings or closed down completely. These developments have had far-reaching consequences for regional communities and their news sources as distant ownership dictates how much local content is produced.
During this time of change, Region Media‘s circulation has continued to grow steadily. Across our two major platforms, we now reach more than 500,000 unique readers every month. All our staff are local, all our stories come from here, and RiotACT is locally owned and operated, like the many local businesses who advertise with us.
Research tells us that many of you already read the RiotACT on your devices, and we also know from our conversations with you that you’d like that process to be as seamless as possible.
The app will be designed for maximum ease of use on your mobile or tablet. You’ll be able to swiftly access breaking and local news, business, sport and community content, and get involved in the vigorous conversations that are our hallmark on RiotACT.
And in line with our guarantee that RiotACT brings you the best locals news at no cost, there won’t be a charge for the app. It’s simply another fast, effective way to get good quality and accurate local news for free. There is no subscription and no paywall for RiotACT‘s content, and there never will be.
As we develop the app early this year, we want to make sure that the experience is the best one for our audience. The survey information will help us build the best app experience possible for our audience across the Capital Region.
