A man who already admitted he possessed child abuse material has now confessed to numerous sex offences against a 15-year-old girl.
Scott Ian Whittaker, 38, has pleaded guilty to raping the girl multiple times in 2018 and using her for the production of child abuse material.
After the lengthy list of charges were read against him in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday (17 May), the next man facing the magistrate called him a “disgusting dog” as they passed each other in the courtroom.
Magistrate Peter Morrison gave this man a quick dressing down.
“Not on,” he told him.
Earlier, Magistrate Morrison read out 22 fresh charges to Whittaker, who pleaded guilty to each of them as he blinked with his eyes cast down.
In total, the Bonner man pleaded guilty to seven counts of having sex with a child, nine counts of using a child for production of child exploitation material, three counts of committing an act of indecency on a child, two counts of using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication to a person under 16, and one count of engaging in a sexual relationship with a child.
Magistrate Morrison said Whittaker would eventually be committed to the Supreme Court for sentencing, but he still had to appear in the Magistrates Court for committal on 24 May.
He faces a maximum of 25 years in jail.
In April, Whittaker pleaded guilty to possessing child abuse material accessed using a carriage service, possessing child exploitation material and failing to store firearms correctly.
The investigation into the original charges was initiated by ACT Policing’s Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team and the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation before a search warrant was executed in Fyshwick and Bonner on 22 March.
