The Comrade put out this media release last week annoucing the introduction of the Tree Protection Bill 2005 into the ACT Legislative Assembly in order to better protect significant trees. The Tree Protection Bill will see the establishment of the Tree Advisory Panel to maintain a register for individual significant trees. How will your tree or shrubbery feel if it doesn’t make the grade?

Its a lot of protection for trees and makes you think wouldn’t it be good is we had an agency as effective for the protection of children?

No cash for significant trees. Just alot of hassle if you want to remove them or put a watering system anywhere near the rootball.

How do I get myself on the Tree Advisory Board? I want my free coffee and monte carlos!

I can see $$$ getting dished-out to property owners who have ‘significant’ trees. Don’t forget the red tape as well – you’ll probably need permission to walk on the front lawn.

I’d like a shrubbery…. very pythonesque
