A 44-year-old Throsby woman will face court today (10 September) following the theft of multiple mobile phones.
Police allege the woman agreed to purchase secondhand mobile phones advertised on social media sites between December 2020 and January 2021. In four cases, the sellers attended addresses in Throsby and met with a woman who identified herself as the buyer of the phone.
However, once the woman had the phone and agreed to purchase it, she allegedly made no payment and ran from the scene with the phone in her possession.
The woman was charged earlier this year with a summons to appear in court for four counts of obtaining property by deception.
She was scheduled to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today.
ACT Policing is reminding sellers of goods to treat items such as mobile phones and other electronic devices as cash and to not let a person leave with the item for sale until payment has been made.
