Crash Friday night on Parkes Way?

I witnessed some of the aftermath of a (what looked like) single vehicle accident on the westbound side of Parkes Way on Friday night, somewhere between 10 and 11pm. A car was upside down and on fire on the side of the road, with police in attendance and a fire crew rushing to the scene. Roadblocks were being set up, we had to get home via Adelaide Avenue.

Didn’t see any mention of the accident on the telly, couldn’t find it on the CT or ABC websites. The AFP site hasn’t been updated since Thursday. Does anyone have any more details?

I believe Todd Carney was seen running from the accident

The cops sure took a while to get to that big crash where Sutton Road meets the Qbn-Canberra road (they call it Yass Road). It’s an awful intersection in the morning, and I was still home (a long way from Qbn!) when the radio was warning people about the 3 car crash. I got down here about an hour later, and the people were standing around on the side of the road, 3 badly smashed cars (one a black one with Ramset Fasteners on it) and a while van with L plates! Didn’t see the 3rd car clearly. No cops or anything, just people standing awkwardly around. Coming towards the airport, I finally saw one Canberra cop car heading towards the scene. Ye gods. Maybe they had to wait for someone to come on shift.

It was a taxi which crashed into a tree, an LPG/Petrol engine so the thing went up in flames pretty quickly. Taxi driver alright, sent to Calvary Hospital with a few minor burns.

Some vehicle was being chased by the coppers through Campbell on Sat night I thought but knowing my memory these days it might have been Friday night.
