A debut exhibition of paintings by Imogen McKenzie
Imogen McKenzie is a Canberra based artist who explores the nature of addiction through the medium of abstract expressionism. With a background in drug abuse and recovery, she derives her inspiration from the endless cycle of chaos through to redemption and reparation.
Her work investigates the lurid opposition between happiness and anarchy using bawdy colours and harsh lines; she highlights the necessity of both and contrasts the light with the dark. In her own words:
“Life experience taught me to paint, and it was an excellent teacher.”
