After paying for a car, extras like window tinting might seem like a ‘luxury’ you don’t need, but you should think of it as a long-term investment.
X Auto Detailing director Cindy Qi says paying upfront for this added protection can make all the difference when it comes to caring for a new car or maintaining an old one, and may even help save money in the end.
“It makes your car cooler, which means using your air conditioner less, so your car will be more fuel efficient, so it really is an investment that will save you money in the long run,” she says.
“Not only that, it gives you a lot more privacy. It’s much harder to actually see into the car itself, so it protects the contents of your car from potential thieves or people who are getting a bit too curious.”
While the company hasn’t long been in its prime location behind numerous car dealerships in Phillip, Cindy says it prides itself on having more than a decade of experience.
“Our technicians are extremely qualified. They pay really close attention to detail in every car we take on,” she says.
“We have all the legal certifications and only work in the best conditions while using the highest quality materials.
“It’s because of these certifications that we are able to work very closely with dealerships all around Canberra, so when people purchase their car, they can get it done then and there. Alternatively, walk-ins are welcome.”
When deciding whether to opt for tinting, there’s more than meets the eye.
The factory option has pigments within the glass and cannot be removed, while aftermarket tinting involves applying a film that provides an element of darkness and UV protection.
The factory option can only be installed as part of the manufacturing process, whereas the aftermarket can be applied to any windows in any car regardless of how long ago it was made.
While pricing does vary for the different types of tinting available, Cindy says spending more is worth the extra cost.
“The premium ceramic option is typically what we recommend. It’s going to reduce the risk of fading, colour changing and air bubbles, so it’s more of a one-off event, rather than having to keep it maintained,” she says.
Cindy is so confident in the company’s product that they offer a lifetime guarantee.
“If for some reason you have a problem with any of your tinting that we did for you, we will happily fix any issues to keep it in perfect condition,” she says.
