Who needs a urinator? Raiders murder Panthers 74-12

Carney was celebrating too. My flat mate spoke to him at mooseheads at 5am on sunday morning. Carney was blotto and having trouble not bumping into the walls.

nice to see he’s feeling some remorse about getting sacked due to the booze.

I don’t think so Mael, they were on a winning bender last time IIRC.

And it would still be a big story in the current climate.

The funny thing is, had any Raider Carney’d over a patron at the ABN after this game, the media reaction would be like watching tumbleweed.

There’s a lot more that you get away with when you are on the winning team bender.

Also makes me wonder why only 6500 fans turned up. You’ve got to be joking Canberra, that’s ridiculous.

THAT’s why the fairweather fans always miss out on all the most magical of moments in sport.

It was simply superb, and you weren’t there to see it. Your loss.

Makes you wonder why we paid so much for Carney, given that we can play so well without him.

My favourite moment was the send off we gave a couple of Penrith fans (who were lipping it up big time in the first half) when they got up and left early in the second half having given up on their team.

What a game! Wow! Well done Raiders. Campese had a brilliant game again. All the players gave great performances. Herbie did very well, and was awarded Man of the Match, although that could have easily gone to Campo or Thurling, or really any number of our players.

Novocastrian, you obviously didn’t get there early enough, because sometime around when it started snowing/sleeting, Robbo announced to the crowd that they’d were gonna be nice, relax the rules and let all us tough fans sitting in the open into the grandstand instead, just for today.

The highlights clip on the Bigpond video site referred to Trevor Thurling as an “unfashionable” – what the hell is that about? I reckon he’s a great second rower. And fashion-wise he wears the same outfit as the rest of the players… 😛

Who needs to attract stars when we’ve got a team that plays together so well?

Also, I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

My favourite moment was when it stopped snowing just before kickoff, given that I had not paid for a seat under cover. Although I am not a Raiders fan (go Knights!) it is always good to see them win. I think most of the crowd were happiest when Alan Tongue scored, and good on him. Raiders forwards kept the team moving the right direction for the whole game and the backs were way too slick for a non-existent Panthers defence.

Other favourite moments off-field: spotting rare/odd items of clothing in the crowd including a Raiders Super League jacket (thought that memory had been repressed) and a World Youth Day poncho (maybe the latter helped the weather clear); and seeing that old standby of half-time entertainment, a pass-the-ball competition (hasn’t changed since Rex Mossop’s TV show circa 1975) assisted by the much loved but slightly moth-eaten Victor the Viking.

Good to see Campese has stepped up big time when we need him.

He had the chance to equal Mal’s record of points in a game but gave the conversion to Herbert as he’d picked up a bit of an ankle injury. I hope everything’s OK.
