Traditionally, I’d have been more than happy to release exclusive information that I currently have to hand, plus a few more restaurant reviews I have done, but I’m still waiting for the promised and much-anticipated throng of lurkers-become-newbie posters and contributors who are waiting in the wings – but hey its only been 1 month so far.

Given this site has become nauseum Raiders game/Traffic/Parking/Cyclists/Stanhope – with special mention Zed/Gallagher bashing, its just sad. I sincerely hope your new corporate model works for you, cause some of us who have been with this site (and supporting the diversity of threads and contributions in it) for a long while now are being alienated because we have not changed – maybe its an old guard/changing of the guard thing, but this isnt the first event I’ve noted across a range of several long-term posters.

But point still taken, I’ll continue shutting up.

I still can’t understand that a govt strapped for cash decides to waste so much money on this sill project that will simply be burnt down in a few years.

Oh and the other thing……Don’t we have a botanical Gardens?????? Isn’t that the right place for all these rare trees.

Seedlings which somehow come from the tree at Lone Pine have been available from the Yarralumla Nursery for some time and from memory cost about $3.

I checked this out a while ago and actually spoke to people at the nursery about it.

I’m looking forward to when the arboretum is finished. Surely the water spent now will be less than the excess water that has flowed with top soil off the muddy slopes over the last 7 years. Or less than the water that would be spent building and sustaining any sort of residential/commercial development.

They won’t have to water the trees forever, will they?

You’ll find that although the mob in charge of watering up at the Aboretum were not supposed to be allowed to draw water from the lake. They have to travel to get it. That did not stop the bloke in charge drawing from the lake anyway to cut-overheads,l got caught doing it and tell the inspectors that he was “testing” the viability of water usage and water quality from the lake. Not only did the inspectors NOT see straight through this bulls**t story, but gave the bloke the contract and made his the sole authority to draw water from the lake.
