Yesterday the Chief Minister was joined by no less than the Prime Minister and the Ambassador of Turkey to plant ~$50 worth of lone pine seedlings in the so called “International Arboretum“.
The Liberal’s Vicki Dunne has taken this opportunity to ask about the water supply for the Stanhope memorial gardens.
- “Mrs Dunne said that her advice was that neither the bore on site nor water from the lake was being used.
“The idea of building the Arboretum in a drought doesn’t sit well with many in the community, I am quite sure they would be even more upset if Stanhope Labor were using potable water and not being honest with the community.”
UPDATED: Jon Stanhope’s media release is now online. The full cast of dignitaries, excluding PM and CM was:
“His Excellency Mr Murat N Ersavci, Ambassador of Turkey; His Excellency Dr John Larkindale, High Commissioner for New Zealand; Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, Chief of the Defence Force, and Major General Bill Crews, National President, Returned and Services League of Australia.”
