A disturbance in the riot

So some of you noticed we had a spot of bother yesterday, thank you to the very many people who emailed, facebooked, texted and used the contact form to let me know.

Basically our ad channel was briefly used to distribute malware. This was very quickly shut down. By then however the wheels of internet justice were turning and we were on warning lists.

We requested a review and overnight google had determined that we are indeed clean.

So it’s back to business as usual and rest assured we’re taking steps to make sure this problem (which has hit a number of sites with much higher profiles than us in recent weeks) does not occur again.

Thank you for your patience.

It’s stopped.

I’m still getting malware warnings in Chrome.

Pretty sure your chrome hasn’t updated. Google’s reporting us clear now,

I link to the RiotACT on my blog and as such my site was also blocked because of the link. I am glad to see everything is alright now. I wonder how my readers reacted to my little history blog suddenly hosting malware…

Last time around I was dumb enough to ignore a warning and picked up the malware thingy. Lesson learned.

It was horrible, my work computer refused to let me visit, and for hours I was forced to actually be productive. Thank god that is over.

On the plus side, this shared adversity has brought us readers closer together.

But please don’t ever frighten me like this again! I had to tell Firefox to stop blocking suspected malware sites!

Good stuff. I remember from the last time it happened that you got plenty of notice from the readers, so I kept quiet figuring all should right with the Riot in 24 hours or so.
