A series of free playgroups aimed at encouraging community connections and inclusive play is coming to Westfield Belconnen, supported by the ACT Government and the Australian Early Development Census.

Connect & Grow is a series of free playgroups organised by Belconnen Community Service (BCS) designed to engage families and allow children to participate in an inclusive play environment. The playgroups will run for 10 weeks from 12 March to 14 May.

Each week is structured according to a theme to encourage children to learn in an inclusive play environment while giving parents and carers the opportunity to receive vital information about early childhood learning.

The playgroups have been designed and will be managed by qualified Early Education Teachers from Belconnen Early Childhood Centre, which recently received an Exceeding rating under the National Quality Framework for the second time in a row for its exceptional service in the Early Childhood sector.

“We always strive to encourage greater connections within the Canberra community and hosting free playgroups in a central location like Westfield Belconnen was the perfect opportunity to encourage such connections,” Director of the Belconnen Early Childhood Centre Lauren Kapper said.

“We have planned a comprehensive 10-week series for Connect & Grow which will explore themes of identity and individuality, supporting children to manage their emotions in a positive way, and developing the skills needed to support children’s transition to school.”

Through Connect & Grow, families can also connect with and learn about support services and events in the surrounding region, with a wide range of information available to them on the day.

The 10-week series will take place at Westfield Belconnen, Level 2 entrance to Myer, every Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm starting 12 March. Call Lauren Kapper on 6251 2893 or 0434 051 042 or email lauren.kapper@bcsact.com.au for more information.

Connect & Grow is organised by Belconnen Community Service in collaboration with the Australian Early Development Census and Westfield Belconnen, and is supported by the ACT Government. Download the Connect & Grow timetable.
