Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch today congratulated Canberra Girls Grammar School Early Learning Centre for becoming the first service in the ACT to be awarded an ‘Excellent’ rating by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
“The rating acknowledges the commitment shown by management and staff of this Centre to continuous improvement in delivering the best education and care for their children, and I congratulate Canberra Girls Grammar for this achievement,” Ms Burch said.
“Research shows that quality early childhood education and care helps set the foundations for life-long learning and development in young children.
“It helps develop a strong sense of identity, and has a positive effect on their future health and wellbeing as well as their education and employment outcomes.
“We also know that families feel reassured knowing that their children are receiving high quality education and care delivered by committed and well-qualified educators.
“The ACT Government is committed to supporting our education and care sector.
“We have a range of strategies in place to help the sector build capacity, continue to improve the quality and increase the number of children who benefit from early childhood education and care.
“We also recognise the importance of helping early childhood educators meet the skills and qualifications requirements under the National Quality Framework, which is why we have scholarship programs for both Certificate III and degree students in early childhood education.”
