A.C.T speedway sedan titles

By willo - 17 April 2009 20

National Capital Motorsports Club presents the 2009 A.C.T speedway sedans titles on Sunday 17 May at the National Capital Speedway, Fairbairn. Divisions competing for their respective titles are:

Super production-   current champion is Chris Sims from sydney

Series production-  current champion is Brett Mitchell from newcastle

Junior sedans (14-17 yo)- current champion is Rachel neve from sydney

Further info is available online

With all current champions residing outside the A.C.T the local drivers will all be doing their best to bring their respective titles home to Canberra, I myself will be competing in the super production division and i’m hoping for a good result after a season that has been fraught with rollovers, fires and various other mishaps and dnfs.

What’s Your opinion?

I was thinking a hybrid of a monster truck and a postie bike would be good…

haha…i thought you were talking about electric/petrol hybrids………super prod is basically a hybrid type class with any production style car and engine combo allowed (with a few restrictions of course)….we have things running around like datto 1200’s with supercharged v6’s and galants with supercharged magna motors…..my own early model commodore powered by a late model v6 fitted with a toyota supercharger as well as lots of later model cars with more traditional drivelines….

Any idea of the field sizes – if there are more than half a dozen entries I might have a look. I haven’t noticed much talk on australianspeedway either – are the Sydney boys coming down?

yes the sydney boys are coming in numbers from what i hear……nominations are open till 9th may so final field sizes wont be known till then
there is a thread on tis on australianspeedway.com andhttp://australianspeedway.com/other-production-sedans/26721-c-t-speedway-sedan-titles-17th-may-2009-a/ discussion will probably heat up as we get closer to the date

no it is not……the fairbairn park speedway has not been in operation for many years……National capital speedway is located in the forest behind fairbairn park and is not part of the complex it shares an access road with the paintball field and air disaster memorial (this is a new route to the air disaster) the old speedway was closed due to noise concerns and the “new” speedway has been in operation since 1986.
Yes the old speedway is quite decrepit and it is a shame to see it sitting there wasting away…….much the same as the tralee speedway

ahh now i know where you are talking about i have been out there before a fair while back there was no paintball field there then though i thought that speedway also closed down a long time ago?

willo 4:50 pm 22 Apr 09

yes the old road to the memorial is now permanently locked…the road signage has been moved…..if heading to qbyn it is the next turn on the left…..only a few hundred metres from the original access road

Really? I have been wondering for sometime why the road up the the memorial always seemed to be locked.

super/open sedans have now been added to the program…….a large field of these v8 powered monsters roaring around NATIONAL CAPITAL SPEEDWAY will be quite a spectacle…
